History

“Whatever you do, or dream, you can begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Prior to the conclusion of the Fall 2006 semester at the University of Michigan, a group of twelve young men congregated to discuss the formation of a new national organization. This newly founded fraternity would conform to the ideals, standards, and principles held by the twelve men. Omega Gamma Pi Fraternity, Inc. was created in 2007 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, by the following Founding Fathers: Nikhil Chaudhri, Abhinav Chordia, Zoheb Hajiyani, Anupam Kathpalia, Riyaz Maredia, Zoha Mohammed, Fayaz Momin, Ram Narayan, Niranjan Ramadas, Ashwin Ramnath, Rahil Roopani, and Atishay Sinha. The Fraternity’s name developed through the ideals of Opportunity, Generosity, and Prestige. Omega Gamma Pi provides the opportunity for its members to perceive the world around them through erudition, diversity, and intellect, offers generous contributions to society through a strong community service program, and a strong sense of prestige through pride in its principles and members. On January 12, 2007, the men met at a local diner where they chartered the first constitution of Omega Gamma Pi. The diligence of the twelve men and their investment of numerous hours into the establishment of the organization helped gain the acceptance of Omega Gamma Pi into the Michigan Student Assembly and the Multicultural Greek Council. On March 28, 2007, the organization officially became part of Greek Life at the University of Michigan. To celebrate their inception, the brothers of OGP hosted their first official social gathering entitled “Genesis” at a local club on March 30, 2007. The Omega Gamma Pi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on four main principles; the Promotion of Brotherhood, the Enhancement of Education, Service to the Community, and Pride in its Principles and Members. Through the conglomeration of diverse ideas of its members, the organization was able to sprout into who are they today. To this date, the brothers continue to operate under their traditions and rituals whilst serving as leaders to their respective communities.
